Default Lefty Warmoth build (pics)- PRS Rosewood style

A fellow lefty sent me a message asking about building with Warmoth parts that I mentioned in another post. Since there is so little available for lefties by comparison, I figured I would post it for anybody else who's interested in building their own. I've built a few for myself, and I've built some righties for friends.

This is a PRS-style, Mahogany body with flame maple cap, rosewood neck with ziricote fretboard and stainless frets. Seymour Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge, SH1-'59 in the neck, Planet Waves self-locking tuners.
I can't stress enough the value you get for your money doing this yourself. This complete guitar cost less than $1000 to build. PRS has a model like this with a rosewood neck, but theirs is $7000. (I am aware however that I am not PRS). (But I built mine before they came out with theirs )

That headstock just looks wrong on that thing, but otherwise, awesome.

Did you finish it yourself, or buy it pre-stained and glossed?

EDIT - "...that I mentioned in another post..."? You have two posts, and this was your first.

Thanks, I did it, it's hand-rubbed brown dye on the flame top with a trans-red spray on the mahogany back, but you can get them finished for a few hundred bucks more.
I chose the explorer headstock just to make it look different than a factory PRS.

Nice job!

I remember one of the guitarists in Huey Lewis & The News had a Gibson LP singlecut with an Explorer headstock... i always liked that guitar.

Well done, and I agree, Warmoth is incredible value. I actually like thier bodies better than real Fender or Charvel.

...a post at anther guitar site, and I thought it might be useful here, since this site and sevenstring are the 2 I frequent the most now.. sometimes clarity escapes me.

Although I am a lefty - I play righty. But I will agree in spades about Warmoth. I don't know if I'll ever buy anything but Warmoth. I know they can't be all things to all people - (ie Neck through, scales etc.) But what they do - they seem to do very well. I haven't hardly touched the other five guitars I own since I built mine - and the value is insane.
