So I REALLY want an 8-string more and more with each passing day...and it's almost the point where I can't take it anymore. Unfortunately I'm broke and I wouldn't be able to afford to keep my Loomis, so I would have to sell it/trade it to get an 8-string. I've pretty much decided if I go the 8-string route I want to get an Agile Intrepid over an SC608B, FM405 or RG2228.
My question to you guys, if you've played both the guitars...which do you prefer? Which would you be happier with? My main concern would be playability/tone...the 28 5/8" scale increase from a 26.5" scale, I'm no shredder/soloist but I'm trying my best to be and I don't know if that would get in the way much or not...It's also an issue of whether I'd want to get a standard with a bolt on neck and Agile pickups (which apparently sound awesome), or if I'd want to get a Pro with neck-thru and EMG 808(s). I currently have two Blackout neck models in my Loomis...HALP!!!
Well I own both and while the Loomis is an awesome guitar, I prefer the Agile. Definiately gets more playing time. I think that is in part due to the fact I don't really like the EMG's in the Loomis. My Intrepid is a dual standard and those Intrepid passives are wonderful pickups. Right now I am trying to trade off the Loomis, but the Agile isn't going anywhere.
