Cross-post from ss.org:
Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. In February this year, I agreed to buy an RG320EX off of Brutalizer Guitars that he was selling off cheap. You can view the original advert here:
Sevenstring.org - The Seven String Guitar Authority.
We agreed a price of $200 + $100 shipping (Shipping was $168 but he offered to cover the rest). I sent the payment to him on the 27th February. A little while later, he came back to me saying that shipping was proving problematic, that he may have to send me the cash back but he wasn't giving up just yet and that he'd have to look at other ways.
As I only really needed the neck for a project build, I offered the possibility of only sending me the neck and a few assorted pieces of hardware, same price, I'd get the bits I needed and the shipping might work out easier, he'd could sell the spares on and cover any shortfall. Everyone's a winner.
Then? A chase up message resulted in 'I'm working on it'. After some more waiting, I offered that a friend of a friend was coming over from Canada and the he could bring it over for me (whole guitar in this case), or that it could be shipped to a friend in LA (again, whole guitar for this deal as it would ultimately cost me more and I wanted to sell of the superfluous parts to recoup). Another message of 'I'll work on it'. Again, nothing.
I've now sent three messages saying 'Look, just send me my money back, it's been months', I'm getting no contact from him whatsoever. I've held off posting this on the forum for quite a while and tried to resolve it in private but enough is enough. I try and give everyone the benfit of the doubt, even when I'm pissed off, but it's now been 5 months since I paid for this guitar
At this point I don't know if the guy is just a scammer, I'm faced with having lost the cash that I sent and my project build is way behind and looking like it won't be completed in time for my touring plans later in the year. If you were thinking about getting this guy to build you a custom, my advice would be STEER WELL CLEAR!!!!
The guy isn't a scammer, he's posted on SS.org quite a few times with his work and I've spoken to him. He works on about 50 guitars at once, and I heard he had a family issue that set things back a bit for him, but I don't know.
