    Project help

Well my maple-fretboard GAS has got to me, I have to build a project guitar. What I have decided on is fixed bridge, ash RG body with monkey grip (I like them ), maple board, reversed headstock and H-S pickups. What I can't decide on is the colour and whether to have a pickguard or not. So, here's a few mock ups. Bare in mind the pickguards will actually be body colour, the outline in the mockup is just to make them show up a bit more.

Natural ash (though my Tele 7 is natural ash already):

Black with chrome hardware no pickguard:

Black with chrome hardware and pickguard:

Black with black hardware no pickguard:

Black with black hardware and pickguard:

    White no pickguard:

    White with pickguard:

I am slightly leaning towards white, but I'm still undecided.

    What about :

Black with black hardware and W/B/W pickguard? I think that'd look good. If not then just go with Black/Black

Sexy man. I too am working on a project involving a RG7 that will have maple fretboard, reverse headstock and H-S combo (BKP Holydiver + Sustainer ftw) lol Cept mine will be a Quilt veneer top of some sort, trying to see if my color scheme is possible atm (Amber stain, but blueburst sides)

Anyways, I think the white ones look better, I just can't decide if pickguard or not. The pickguard does make it very JEM like, so if you're into that kinda thing.. I think personally I would go for no pickguard, and colored pickups (blue or purple or something) to give it alittle flavor (flavor that is changable if you eventually think its gay)

Do all natural, you see white & black guitars least by seeing the ash grain it will be a little more unique guitar since it will have its own distinct grain it looks a little classier then just your avg old plain white or plain black, thats my opinion.

If it were me tho I would dye it since Ash has deep grain lines. Dye it black 1st so that the black dye gets down into the deep grain, then sand it then dye it another transparent blue for example....then it would be trans blue with black grain lines. Then either oil it or clear it....then it would really be a unique guitar. If your going to build a custom RG don't settle with a run of the mill color that you see everywhere.....your mockups basically look like a standard PGM without the F holes.

Oh & no pickguard for sure....looks much cleaner that way.

put a scrap PG on it, paint it white, and remove the pickguard, and put on a clear one, so its white with a faux ash PG

Out of those choices I say white with pickguard, but I think some crazy bright green would be badass. Add purple pickups and knobs and up the ante a bit more.

Out of those choices I'd go with either white with the pickguard, or black with black hardware and a pickguard. Although the natural might look wicked too, the others just stood out more to me
