1992 Hamer USA Centaura Deluxe MINT!! collector (408 - eBay (item 180411059412 end time Oct-03-09 06:49:09 PDT)
Back in the late '80s, Hamer built nothing but set-neck (and occasional neck-thru?) instruments. Their highest-profile endorser at the time was Steve Stevens, and following the trends of the day, he was looking to change to a brighter, snappier tone, so Hamer tooled up to build him bolt-on instruments. His model was the Centaura, but they also had the Californian and Diablo, among others. They were really nice guitars... i remember really digging one Centaura that Stevens had that had a white top, black back, two humbuckers and a reversed headstock.
This one is SUPER mint. And i've never seen one with boomerangs at the 3rd and 12th frets. Most of them also came with reversed headstocks, if i'm not mistaken.
Mike, were you at Hamer when the Centaura came out? Did you work with Steve Stevens at Hamer and/or Washburn?
Man, I use to have a couple of sweet older USA Hamers. A Californian which had the same inlay as that Centaura and a Diablo with a reversed headstock that I got for $80.
