    They make ostrich-skin cowboy boots, and that's probably where the idea came from.

    Having a real snakeskin body covering was a bit of a fad in the late '80s, as I recall. I think at least a few BC Rich Gunslingers came from the factory like that, but I could have it mixed up with another superstrat.

    Heck, Steve Vai covered one of his guitars with his mother's curtains--ostrich skin looks way better than that.
