    New bass day!

Just got myself an GSR206 6 string bass. It's an Indonsian, bottom-rung Ibanez bass, but I absolutely love it. The tone might not be amazing, but the feel is. I can work on the tone for recording, so that's not worrying me.

It's absolutely killer value. I think with new p-ups and new control nobs (it comes with cheap plastic ones which are meant, I think, to look like they're made of metal). Possibly new tuners, too. They don't look that sturdy, although they sem fine at the moment (time will tell, I guess).

The neck is very slim and flat, making the transition from guitar to bass pretty unremarkable. Acoustically, it has a real piano-like tone. The action on this thing is superb. The intonation isn't set properly, so the action might change a tiny bit once that's done. That not withstanding, it's a total pleasure to play.

I'd highly recommend this bass to anyone looking to go for a first forray into 6 strings. It'll certainly do for my home recording. I know the Agile basses are quite well regarded, but the Agile Intrepid I had was terrible. I'm not suggesting that all Agiles are bad, I've only played one. But that, combined with the horror stories people have had, and their specs not really being anything better than Ibanez's, means I'd go for this one anyday. And, in fact, I did!

Pics? I'll grab one or two later.

Hey there, stranger! If your bass is anything like my SR506 (also made in Indonesia, I think), I have no doubt it's great.

    It sooooo did happen.

The neck profile against a 7620 neck for comparison:

It's ridiculous how close those necks are

Also, what's the guitar with the Ronald McDonald pickups? 21/2027XV-whatever-it-is?
