Default Major Fender Tele GAS Thanks to a Bandmate

I'm primarily an Ibanez player, completely by accident. It just seems every guitar I've ever liked playing has been an Ibanez. I recently joined a blues/classic rock band. My band's other guitarist is a big Fender guy. I've been a major fan of the tone he's been getting out of his gear (mostly Teles), and then the other day at practice, he suggested that we all switch instruments for a couple of songs (I was on bass that night) so I ended up playing one of his telecasters. Son of a bitch. That thing felt good in my hands and sounded even better.

I ended up moseying on down to guitar center the other day for something simple and damn near walked out with an American tele, though I was also really digging the Joe Strummer model I also had played that day.

I have no doubts that by the end of winter, I'll have a tele in my arsenal, probably in some sort of burst finish and a maple board.

Why not just get an Ibanez Tele copy? They're fairly cheap on the 'bay.

^ Actually, my '83 Ibanez RoadstarII has a very warm Tele tone.

Or, since he said he likes Fender Telecasters in feel and tone, he could just buy a Fender Telecaster Forget brand loyalty.

Only get a G&L if you get to play it, way too many dogs.

I've had the tele bug since before I played guitar - I thought they looked the coolest and it's what my dad used to play. But I couldn't afford one to begin with, and then they all became so "in" that when I had enough money for one I got a seven string instead so I didn't look like every other douche (crap idea, eh?).

I played an Ibanez FR1620 a whiile back, and coupled with my passion for post-rock it's really started rekindling my desires for a Telecaster Deluxe. We shall see
