So, since the beginning of time, I've been looking for a black Maple-boarded Japanese Squier or fender strat to put a black PG and hardware on and traipse around with like a crazy guy.
But, I saw this in a small local store, and for $115, sold. I was told it's a '93, so that's what I'm sticking with. I'm still also unclear on what it's made out of. Alder or Poplar seem to be common guesses for these models.
Upgrades performed by me after the fact:
Schaller-style Staggered Locking tuners.
Mighty Mite 6-screw vintage trem to replace the junky stock one
Duncan Performer Detonator Bridge pickup (Reason: I had one.)
All black appointments elsewhere. (Jackplate, knobs (sans one, lost it) and pickguard.
(The graphite nuts came stock)
Everyone should own a USA Peavey now, I'm convinced. And at these prices, how can you afford not to?
Wow... nice find! That's a KILLER deal for a Made-In-USA guitar of any brand.
