Excuse the shitty pic, I just got home and I have to run back out:
Long story short - a bassist buddy of mine who's a big Opeth fan wanted to learn how to play guitar, realized SE's were actually pretty damned cheap, and asked me to go shopping with him to play a whole bunch of 'em and find him a good one. We did that last night, and one in particular, a tobbaccoburst singlecut, just blew me away - I kept coming back to it over and over again, it was just an absolutely special guitar. You could tell from just the first few notes...
So, he bought it, and I suddenly felt like Chris. None of the others blew me away at the GC in Boston, so today I rolled down to the one in South Attleboro and played another tobaccobust down there. It wasn't QUITE as nice as my buddy's, but they were doing a manager's special 15% off, so for the price it was a no-brainer, I've kinda wanted a fixed bridge HH riffing guitar for a while.
Now, I just need to convince my buddy to swap guitars with me.
Anyway, I'm sitting here getting my Tremonti on and digging the shit out of it - I'm SO not the PRS type, but it's just a fun guitar. I can't wait to see what it's like once I get it set up.
Nice one! Looks like it'd be a great guitar for open tunings. You could even go all out with the Tremonti impression and tune it DADADD, then learn some Creed.
