The Hamer showed up today. Awesome looking guitar from ten feet away.
Needs TLC. Lots and lots of TLC. The tuning pegs had an inch of filth on them, the neck is all out of whack and the bridge is indeed a titanic piece of crap. It's strung with 9's with two trem springs, and I had to bury the screws to even get the bridge remotely close to level.
I'm having a small "dispute" with the seller right now since it has some shoddy fretwork (it was refretted, apparently by someone on steroids using a sledgehammer) and some other issues. If I wasn't me (a guy with a bajillion guitars) and I actually bought this intending to open it up and play it, I'd be pretty pissed off. The neck is bowed, the frets are junk, the bridge "setup" was done with crooked sheet metal screws.
The neck feels great though, and hopefully some setup time, new pickups and a new bridge can set it right. It should clean up nicely, and at the end of the day I'll have ~$600 invested in a OFR'd backup slanty-shredder in trans green with proper pickups.
Yikes, it even looks a bit shaky in those pictures, and fretwork is potentially a PITA.
