Nah, I'm just kiddin'.
I'm already gear-obsessing on my new bass, which isn't good. I'm happy with the strings that are on it but I don't own calipers so I'm trying to guess at the gauges. They are Elixirs.
The low B is a taper-wound string, which implies to me that it's a .130 as that's all I see in the Elixir product catalog. Is there anything special about a taper-wound string, or does it just make it easier to fit into certain saddles and tuners...?
My guess is the regular 4-string set on the inside is a .045-.105 as that's a medium/extra-long scale set, and it's what they pair with the .130tw.
I have no clue on the top string, it's tuned to C and feels very balanced with the rest of the set. The smallest they make in Elixir singles is an .032.
Would love to hear opinions, experiences, etc. I'm happy with the strings but I'd like a coated B string for longevity and I think I want something heavier than a .130.
Djent doesn't have bass silly, it just has downtuned 8 strings. Just pick up an RG2228 and you're golden.
