Hey guys I'm thinking about picking up a Vandy. Just wanted some thoughts. The one I have my eye on is an 88'. It's a bolt on not a custom. The main thing I am worried about is that crazy looking Kahler 2700. Do any of you guys have experience with it? I would ask Lee, but he hasn't been around. Thanks.

I think one of the Vandenburgs he had, he scored from another guy on here but I don't remember who. I played one at GC one time and it reminded me a lot of the Kramers from the era. Thin, but rounded neck profile.

    Details on the 2700 here:

    Kahler 2700 vs. Floyd Rose

The Vandys are nice guitars... short scale superstrats FTW.

Ugh. 2700s suck. Seriously, drill it for a Floyd.

Even if the 2700 was a decent trem (which it really isn't), parts for them are nearly impossible to get, since Kahler doesn't support any of their old fulcrum trems anymore.

To me, modding is a lot of trouble to go through for a Vandy. Search out a Kramer Nightswan or Pro-Axe, and you'll have pretty much the same thing, IMHO.

Thats the kind of info I was looking for. I love the Vandy's but don't want to buy a guitar that has a crappy trem with no parts availability. I guess I'll hold off and fing an old 80's axe with a Floyd.
