I might be traveling a bit for work this year; we're finally getting to the point where we can do some infrastructure stuff, which means me going to CT and NC a few times.
I HATE vegging out in a hotel room doing nothing but watching TV and movies, so I thought a cheap guitar (either my strat or even an Agile) with a cheap Rondo flight case might be cool.
It looks like whatever it is, it would be a check-in, because even the travel guitars exceed the 22" length that's allowed for a carry-on.
What do you guys do? Small and light as possible, or do you not give a shit since you're checking it anyway?
I've flown with basses and guitars as carry-ons before in gig bags. Generally most flight attendants will allow you to stow it in the captain's closet, or help you fit it into an overhead compartment. If you get something like an EB Silhouette clone (OLP? Sterling?) or a Steinberger copy, it'll easily fit in an overhead bin.
