I happened to see the first production model Modern 7 go through final inspection, so I grabbed a couple of quick iPhone pics:
It went to my buddy Rob who is a co-owner of the killer shop Tone Merchants in CA. Unfortunately, he was go excited to get it that he came out and grabbed it before we could take the official pictures for the Gallery. He will have to bring it by so we can get some real pics.
I'll have to look up all the specs tomorrow, but that is the Roasted Maple neck and fingerboard. As much as I love the Vulcanized on mine, the Roasted is just so cool looking! Guess I have to order another We also swapped the chrome knobs for Gold Speed knobs and it made all the difference. Ive become a big fan of the Speed knob personally.
The heel contour has been refined and smoothed over, and the lower horn area has been nicely opened up for playing in the higher registers. I was able to reach the low strings around the 20-24th frets without hitting my hand on the lower horn. You're welcome, shredders.
We've also finalized the line-up for the Suhr 7-string humbucker pickups:
7-Plus (bridge only)
I have the 7-Hot in mine (as does Rob in his above) and I love them. Most excellent for hard rock/metal, they are a touch hotter than the Aldrich, the hottest in the 6-string line-up. The 7-Vintage will be closer to our SSV (PAF-style) pickup, with the 7-Plus being somewhere in the middle and only available in the bridge position. I love the 7-Hot in the neck but im curious to try the Vintage. They are winding me one soon and ill chime in once thats happened.
Im not sure if I mentioned it before, but weve also taken a couple of orders for the Modern 7 with the Hipshot hardtail bridge, which several people have asked for. We havent made one yet, but John has one on his desk and it seems like a nice, solid bridge. I cant wait to see the final result on that one!
That looks infinitely sexier than all of the promo pics I've seen.
