so, I'm trading one of my KVs for a Squier Subsonic, and while I've played baritones before, I've never owned one, which means this one gets the strings and hardware/electronics I want.
1. Will standard strings for 25.5" Guitars work on baris, or will I have to get baritone strings? I have some bari strings lying around (13-70), but I need to experiment with strings to find something I like, so It would be great if normal strings will fit.
2. How do most pickups react to longer scales? I have a SD Livewire Metal that I'm probably gonna throw in it, but if I wanted different pickups, how do they react compared to pickups in shorter-scale guitars? Am I going to less percieved gain due to the longer scale length? I hear people refer to baritone-scale as being "clearer" (though I've never had problems with 25.5 for clarity), but does that translate into less power?
also, It's been a while since I owned a fixed-bridge guitar, and I know it's getting locking tuners (probably the GFS staggered locking), but what kind of bridges should I be looking at? Why are the hipshots considered to be so good? And furthermore, is there a significant advantage to something like a hipshot over a generic, is there that much of a difference?
Material quality of the bridge is the super critical bit, as well as function such as "will it fucking intonate goddamnit" and "shit fuck damn this thing is harder to height adjust than noodles". A nice steel or other quality material bridge sounds much nicer than shitty sand cast zinc and such.
