    Are these any good?

Made in Indonesia....about $475 new..... I just ordered one.

Mahogany with a figured Bubinga top, wizard II neck, Edge III & Infinity pu's (To be replaced by a dean/DMT Baker act bridge & HWS/Batio neck that I have waiting..).

Any idea what kind of Mahogany they're made it the real deal or nato/sapele etc..?

Are Edge III's really as bad as they're supposed to be?

The last Ibby's I bought were a MIJ Saber & RG550 in the mid 90's...both with Lo-pro Edge trems so I'm not sure what to expect..

The Edge III is pretty freaking bad

Although, a friend of mine got this exact guitar without the burl veneer, and it is a blast to play.

I'm sure it's "real" mahogany, but a less desirable species. Doesn't matter, it probably sounds and shreds fine, but everything I've heard indicates that those trems blow. Since you plan on replacing it, big deal, though I'm not familiar with what you said you'd replace it with.

Personally I just don't get along with any Ibanez that's not MIJ. The other ones are playable, but don't feel comfy to me. Something about the necks and frets.

Technically I should feel bad for this, but if you're going to post a thread asking if they suck, then saying you just bought one (without asking if they suck before you ordered it...), then...

Assuming that it is an RG320 or RG420, then yes, they suck. Unequivocably. Sorry.

    RG420 ....yeah.

Well ..the reviews I read all praised it as being great bang for the buck and I really like the look of it, so I thought it should be okay after swapping pickups (& the trem, if required ...I've read that gotoh's fit the edge III route?). As for the neck...I can usually adjust to those pretty well. (I read that wizard II's were flattish at the back & really slim...I think my saber has a wizard II & it's very comfortable, though this might be something different?)
