I can't afford this guitar yet, but I'm really considering it and would almost surely switch out the EMG 81/89 set for a passive humbucker in the bridge position and a humbucker-sized P90 in the neck. It's got two chambers and one of those nifty cutouts over one of them, as well as a Fishman Powerbridge piezo system (pee-AY-zo ).
EMG's are a hot pickup system but with a weak magnetic field. I assume they sound and perform well in the guitar, but I find it hard to balance active-equipped guitars with passive-equipped guitars in a live setting.
Does anybody have experience with pickup selection in semi-hollow bodies? Are there certain characteristics that become more or less important with the extra resonance and "air" that the chambered body offers?
High vs. low output? Strong vs. weak bass or treble response?
at the tags, sounds like some serial killer shit...
