I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for a carvin for my next guitar. It'll be a 7 string DC727. I was hoping to get something 2nd hand but I've not seen a lot with specs similar to what I want, which is a bummer due to how they hold their resale.
Anyway, I've done a bit of reading and it seems their trem isn't great and fitting an OFR after can be a bit of hassle. How bad is the trem? I've been wanting to get a trem equipped 7 lately after some messing around on my soloist. I'm not a crazy trem user, more light vibrato and prebends instead of divebombs. I think I should be ok but if the trem is really awful I might avoid it.
What is the build time like around now? I've heard various estimates but I'm guessing it'll be something like 2 months build time? Would that be a fair estimate?
Here's a mockup of what I'm thinking of ordering. I might change the blueburst to another colour yet. It'll be mahogany body, maple neck thru, flame maple top, birdseye board.
The trem i pretty bad. Sounds like it wouldn't be too much of trouble with your use though, but it's nothing like an OFR.
