Schecter's your best bang for the buck outside of a full custom.

Probably Schecter. If you like more tension and longer scales, Agiles can be pretty decent after a pickup change.

The compound is a multiscale guitar which I don't want. Doesn't the shorter scale of the schecter make the striñgs loose? And if not what schecter model is the best?
and did anyone here try blackmachine?

If you think the 2228 is pricey, you probably won't find Blackmachine to be much better. Didn't he stop taking orders a while back?

Played the Schecter, really liked it. I have a 2228 and it has a really nice neck profile, but I do actually think the schecter edges it despite the neck (neck was a bit chunky for my tastes as i have titchy hands) as I preferred the mahogony instead of basswood (but seriously, with EMG's in both the difference is marginal)

I'd go for the hellraiser if I had the choose between that and an agile.

But, none of these come even close to comparing with the blackmachine f8 which is one of the nicest things I have ever played.

And this is coming from a man that hates all 8s that are 27" or shorter

I'd try for the Hellraisers or one of the ATX Blackjacks if you want an Ebony fret board and Blackouts instead of the Rosewood and EMGs though.

You shouldn't go under 27 inches. If you do you will be either dissappointed or not know what you're missing. If you want that low string to work well you have to have some scale length, otherwise you will have a guitar with 8 strings and only 7 of them playable.

Shannon had a 25.5" scale 8 that he said worked fine though. Again its really all down to preferences.
