I bought this from the in-stock store at carvin.com in a fit of poor self-control.

The Carvin wilkinson bridge just sucks...
The only worse bridge I've ever used was this (well, a lefty version) abomination
found in my very first guitar. A cheap import BC Rich.
It was hard to capture on camera, but the knife edges and the bridge posts were all chewed up... and I don't know what the hell is up with the trem arm or the plastic sleeve...
Another odd thing about this bridge is the shape of the trem arm

I'd imagine the Gotoh wilky would be far better (it can't possibly be as bad), but my first experience with a wilkinson trem has not been positive at all.
The pickups are even worse then the carvin humbuckers, but at least I wouldn't have to hack on the guitar or pickups to install a new set.
I can't replace the pickguard - carvin needed to be special; they placed the top center screw in a odd position. And I apparently cannot but replacements from carvin, so no HSS like I had planned for this guitar.
Overall, it's not a bad guitar... compared to a stock fender american standard, this guitar is much nicer, but I think this guitar just needs to go back
Shame. That is a nice looking guitar.
