I feel like a tech should know that an edge shouldnt sit perfectly flat. I dont even own a guitar with an edge and never have yet I know it shouldnt sit flat. If you did setups for a living you should at least know that much.

Yeah, but you sit around on forums all day.The edges and new ibanez floyd types are the only floyd style bridges that dont sit flat. Its an incredibly common mistake, even for pretty experienced high quality techs who have never seen an edge before.

Before you throw emgs to the rubbish bin try 18v first. On 9v they don't have the juice to dish out what you're putting into them. At 18v they actually present advantages over passives.

I think emg should stop suggesting that 9v is an acceptable voltage to run them. I can see the waveforms in my daw go from being chopped off to looking clean as can be on the two different voltages. The audible difference takes them from uacceptable to my favorite.

How do you do this? I might try this on my Zakk Wylde Epi that I put the ZW EMGs into.

It's super simple.

Get an extra 9 volt battery, and a 9 volt clip. Take the existing wiring, and just wire the new clip in series. Just solder the negative of the new clip to the positive of the old, and replace the new positive where the old positive was. Takes about 3 to 4 minutes, including unscrewing the cavity. The hardest part is stuffing the extra battery back in the cavity!
