    Elixir haters: Check in

So Mike's said it, and the dude at GC who did my ace setup on my ESP said it. I like Elixirs, have used them for ages, and it's been a long time since I've tried something else.

That said, It's just about string change time for a few fiddles (and my 2027 is in dire need of a fresh setup ), and I'm considering trying something else. The last strings I used regularly were Blue Steels, and it has to be like 10 years ago now.

What are you gents using for 10s these days?

Definitely D'addario. They simply sound the best and hold up to abuse the best. I gig regularly, though, which means I change strings frequently. They're not exactly long lasting, but they're really bright when they're fairly new, so they hold up well to a lot of gain.

Elixirs. Sure there are other options out there that may sound SLIGHTLY better, but they feel smoother than most strings, and hold up pretty much forever. That's a tradeoff I'm willing to make.

D'Addarios here. Used to use Dean Markley, GHS, and Ernie Balls, and like these best.

Been using Deads for a while (D'addario) because they come in vacuum sealed packs I don't have to worry about them getting hosed up when I buy tons of packs at a time when MF does sales and have them sit around for months on end.

For non coated strings, d'addario all the way. they are the ONLY ones that have ever stood up to my abuse. everything else shit the bed on tone or broke.
