    Yet Another Single Cut?

    Of sorts...

SH275 - Electric Semi-Hollow MIDI Access Thinline Guitar
    WW - White/White
    CS - Satin Matte Finish
PH - Headstock To Match Plain Wood Body Color
NMAH - Mahogany Neck & Body
MTA - Bookmatched Maple Top Acoustic
    ABD - Abalone Dot Inlays
    STF - Stainless Med-Jumbo Frets .048" H .103" W
    BB - Multi-Layer Body Binding
    BC - Black Hardware
    BL - Black Logo

It sounds quite good, better than nearly all other Carvins I've played. I'm not sure if it's the semi-hollow construction or that it has a set neck vs. a neck through, but it sounds warm and woody.

It's quite light, I haven't strapped it on yet, but I fear it'll be a bit neck heavy.

I prefer oiled or unfinished necks, but the satin paint does feel quite good in my hand. I'm pleasantly surprised.

There are a few things that I don't like...

After I ordered this guitar, I found out the binding they use is tortoise... it's not as bad as I expected -

There's a big mark in the clear, kinda like a thumb print, between the bridge and the string ferrules.

There are lots of "ghost" marks in the paint, faint shadows. They're really hard to capture. This sword shaped one on the back of the neck is fairly prominent.

Sucks about the finish stuff. The tort binding looks great though.

The marks look like contamination from oils (ie, touching) on the surface during the painting process.

    Great looking guitar overall, though.

Better send it back they build it backwards

I really like that - The white & binding look really nice together -

I'm pretty certain that what I like about the way it sounds is caused by the semi-hollow construction. I'm tempted to send it back for the non-midi version (I don't know why I ordered midi, I really don't have a need for it), and asking them to do black binding (which they'll apparently do for a $50 up-charge).

I'm also tempted to send it back and order a Soloway - he seems to do a flat top semi-hollow guitar quite well.
