The nearest store with any real selection was a 4 hour round trip from my hometown (we measure in time not distance ). Steve's Music in Ottawa and Lauzons - more then just epiphone and marshall MG's

Damn, I wish we had something like that around here.

I made the same face when I had my RGA8.

It's a great place. The gear selection isn't as diverse as some of the places I've been to (Sounds Great Music about 50 miles from here, Electro Music about 15-20), but there's just way more of it. I'll be lucky if I see a 7 string in any of my local places, whereas yesterday there was something like....10-15? Maybe more.

The fact we had the chance to play two 8 strings yesterday (an ESP FM418 as well as the pictured RGAbomination), when I've never seen a single 8 string in a shop before just shows the kind of places they are.

The GC's around here (well, and the Daddy's, before they went under) usually have maybe a dozen or so "high-end" guitars, and the rest is pure crap.

The Boston stores are a bit better, but I'm an hour north and never bother going in, since I usually know what I'm after when I go fiddle-hunting. A place with Premiums, eights, high end Jacksons and all that other solid gear in stock? Yes, please.

Yeah, it's similar here. My local places have the usual run of the mill Fender, Gibson, standard Ibbys, some Schecters and the like, and then you'll get the oddball in there.

I saw a J-Custom Ibanez in one of them a couple of years back, and they had a Brunetti Star T-Rack, a Rivera Knucklehead, them kind of things. However, you just won't find 7s with any regularity, and would never see an 8.

Things are improving though up here, I'm just hoping I can have my local places turn into an ERG fest at some point, a 200 mile trip just to try out a Jackson is a bit much!

Come to NYC. Sam Ash, GC, and Rudy's (among many others) all within easy subway access of each other (or, in the case of Sam Ash and Rudy's, just down the street!)

Too much focus leads to tunnel vision
Too much faith leads to religion
Too much knowledge leads to confusion
Too many guitar lessons lead to jazz-fusion

A video to accompany the NGD (i.e. me playing the Xiphos). Horribly dark and I had hoped you could edit after with Vimeo, obviously not....

Ibanez Xiphos XPT707 on Vimeo

Includes Bloodbath (including using my Behringer HM2 clone), Immortal, my old band End Of Eternity, and my current band (just one of the solos)

Well, the S7320 was popular, as this guy here...
