I have a guitar purchasing predicament. I was all set and ready to place an order for a Carvin DC727, but I was unsure of the specifications for the fretborad radius. So taking some suggestions, I went to guitar center this past friday to play around on some guitars, to get a feel for the different variations of fretboard radii. Here's the predicament, they happened to have a EBMM JPX-7 in stock and that I played on. Wow! What a guitar. The price of the JPX-7 though is what deters me though from purchasing it. Now I am unsure of which guitar to get. I can really only afford 1 guitar, but honestly, I would love to have them both.
Here are my questions:
Is the EBMM JPX-7 worth paying around $2500 new? Vague question, I know, but for those of you who are owners, or have owned a JP6, or7, have you been pleased with the guitar?
What is the craftmanship like? Has anybody had any major problems with their JP model guitar?
Is the music man floating trem on the JP models easy to work with and intonate?
If you have not been pleased with a JP6, or 7, why not?
If you have owned both a DC727, or a JP-7, what are some of the pros and cons of each guitar, if any?
Thanks for reading. Please respond with you feelings and opinions.
Just for your knowledge, JP7 and JPX7 have different specs.
JP7 has 16" fretboard radius
JPX7 has 20" fretboard radius and stainless steel frets, and a thinner neck.
