I'm told that the DC700 active pickup routs are "industry standard" in size/shape for soapbar-style direct mount actives. In theory, EMGs or Blackouts should drop right in.
Being the owner of two Carvins already, I pretty much know the kind of build quality to expect for the money (which is exceptional, IMO). But I don't have any experience with LTDs and so don't know what sort of build quality to expect from one. I could try to find one locally to test drive, but I have found that the accumulated experience of knowledgeable users on forums like this can be more useful and insightful than an hour in a noisy guitar store with a single specimen that nobody bothered to give a proper setup.
