I feel kinda stupid doing this but I've got around 3K free'd up for guitar gear and I'm trying to settle myself with a direction.
My current gear which I love is A Framus Panthera 7 string guitar, PRS Custom 24, A bogner Uberschall Twin jet head, Rivera 4X12 CAB.
I kinda feel abit limited with the twin jet, having a semi clean channel and thought about doing 4cm with the axe fx II, would also be very convenient for home recording and as a FX device - with that in mind, the bogner's drive is to me the best drive channel ever.
But, I also feel like I'd like having a more "metal" high end 7, I feel also abit limited with the framus having 22 frets with an ok access, not the most comfortable neck in the world and with no tremolo system, I really like the guitar's sound\look\vibe but I feel having another high end 7 could be great.
The third option would be getting an axe fx standard and a high end production 7, problem is that I've tried that setup twice and on the last time it didn't work that good.
So just throw your opinions, it's my decision and my personal preference at the end, but I kinda feel the need to have some input for some reason.
I haven't gotten to play an Axe-FX II yet. But from everything I've heard, if you weren't happy with the Standard, you wouldn't necessarily be that happy with a II either.
If you already love your drive sound, why mess with it? You could add another amp to your setup for the clean sounds using an A/B box. You could probably still do that and get a nice production seven. A custom 7 would take almost all your budget, I'd think, and possibly even more.
