I'm new to the forum and happy to have found it! I have a question about an Ibanez RGD2120z that I hope someone can assist with (tried search but it didn't yield relavent results). The back of the headstock has the word "used" stamped in it, yet the guitar is purportedly brand new aside from that. Question is, would this be a bad purchase because of that? What exactly does it signify?
Thanks so much!
This typically indicates that it was a factory (or store) second (or at least something to that effect). Odds are it no longer carries a factory warrantee either. Something was up though to make it attain that status, so I definitely wouldn't pay the new price for it. What that is that caused it to stamped is anybodies guess really. If the owner isn't being straight about it (or just doesnt know/believe), I would avoid it unless the price is good enough to warrant taking on any potential issues. Could be practically nothing. A scratch, was used as a store demo, something like that. Could have been a much more major repair. Find that out first, and then assess the price.
