I'm on the look out for another guitar to replace my Dean V as my Drop-B guitar, since it's bloody awkward to play sitting down to say the least. Since I'm a big PRS fan and I learnt to play on an LP style guitar (and have been playing Gibson-scale ever since), the SE 245 caught my eye pretty quickly.
Two big things for me though: Body Thickness and Neck Heel. The LP copy I've got is completely uncarved at the back, so it both digs in while playing and the square edge of the body proves to be a problem when playing higher up, more so than the heel itself.
I also like the fact that my cheapo PRS copy has a thinner body, and I've heard the 245s have a thicker body than the other PRSes. Although no-one actually says how thick it is.
Does anyone here own one? Any more information you could give about them?
I've got one. It's noticeably thicker than a standard PRS SE, both in neck and in body, and pretty heavy since it's not weight-relieved. It has a shallow belly cut, and the upper fret access is quite good without the square body edge below the heel.
It plays and sounds fantastic too.
