How often do you change strings? How often do you play?

I occasionally hear about people who change strings once a week or more.

That sounds really frequent to me. I barely ever change strings unless one of them breaks, and then I only change the one that broke. I'll easily go 6-12 months without changing strings, and back in the day I played at least 5-7 hours a week.

I use Blue Steel 9s if that matters.

I also tend to go through strings pretty slowly, I usually change a set anywhere from every 3-6 months and typically use D'Addario or GHS Boomers. My one buddy goes through some sets in a day or two since his sweat consistency is quite acidic, and for this purpose he uses Elixirs. I will say though when I had Blue Steels they did last a remarkably long time as well.

I rarely change my strings when im not playing anywhere. I generally wait until they are completely dead before I bother.

but it really depends on your sweat, if you clean them off often, how much you care about having that new string sound.

I play anywhere from 3-12 hours a week, probably. I change my strings every month or two. Strings sound best when they're new, and having only one new when the rest are old and dead is awful.

I only use Elixirs, and I generally change my strings about once every 3 months. This of course varies depending on how much I'm playing them.

Also, the idea of playing strings 7 months old physically revolts me. Like, I actually get shivers.

~ 6-8 weeks or so. I'm playing around 2 hours a day nowadays. But I rotate through 5 guitars and don't really sweat much.

I usually change strings once every 4-5 weeks. I play guitar usually about 4-8 hours a week.

If I waited until a string broke to change my strings, my strings would end up sounding pretty shitty pretty quickly.

Bass, however, is a different matter. I usually only change bass strings about once a year. But I don't play bass in a band and bass strings last longer than guitar strings.
