I play death metal as well, but I primarily play 7 strings. Have you gave any thoughts to some LTD's? I would recommend something like a MH-1000 or something along those lines if you don't mind a superstrat shape. But, also the Ibanez RGA321 is a very good recommendation as well.

Actually what you need to do is get an acoustic electric and run it through a death metal pedal.

Or, if you're really hardcore, get a ukulele and run it through an octave pedal one or two octaves below and a death metal pedal.
