I had kind of a "duh" moment yesterday - I love the Wilkinson on my strat, but have had it flush against the body for dive only operation for a couple years now, and I found that I never really used it. I had been toying with the idea of floating it again, but at least until I stop with the pickup swaps I didn't want to. However, I had the claw screws pretty tight, so as a compromise I thought I'd loosen them a fair amount, and dialed them in to the point where the bridge would remain flush for a full-step compound bend, but only just.
Holy shit did that make a difference. the guitar overall feels a little looser and slinkier which is probably just placebo effect, but the bar is much smoother and bar vibrato, an effect I've always liked (thanks Pete!) is suddenly way easier.
The guitar just feels better.
