I sold my first RG550 to Good Buddy Elliot (Coleman) because I was a stupid, and he won't sell it back to me because he is a stupid.
He was on the Protest The Hero tour with us this April and I think we were in Arizona (maybe not?) when he called me from the Pawnshop around the street from the venue and told me he found a 550.
It was beat up, but it was cheap and I walked out of the store with it for even less. As luck would have it, soon after that show my buddy Chrys Johnson over at EMG told me he wanted to show me some new hybrid pickup protos they are working on, and I gave him the guitar and told him to put them in there and give the guitar some TLC. Kevan Geier sent him a Tremol-no to install (as every guitar with a compatible trem should always have a Tremol-no)
I picked it up when we were in my hometown area and took some shots of it from the road. It's a killer axe, and sounds great as an rg550 would. I guess Ibanez doesn't make em like they used to. With the paper thin neck and the age, it would need a bit more work to be absolutely perfect again, but I definitely dig the guitar a lot, and for the price it was a total no brainer, even if only to use as a beater!

damn, i really like that, for what it is, it's greater than should be possible!
