Please tell me more about this pawn shop Ibanez, from the late 80's.

I like to cruise my local pawn shops from time to time, on the off chance that I may come across a cool guitar, and even better if they have no idea what it is and severely underprice it.

I came across this one that never seen it before. After researching through old catalogs, it appears to be an Ibanez 540pmg. It is in fairly decent shape, besides someone thinking painting the saddles was a good idea. They are asking $140 for it?

Can anyone tell me about these? Any good? Turds? Rare? Abundant? Value?

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

What is it with these things? I've seen two of them for sale on Jemsite recently, and now this.

I'd say they're lovely. Probably my favourite out of the P, R and S range. That's an absolute steal, I'd say (assuming it's in good condition, and it looks to be).

Judging from the looks, specs, age, and low price I would buy that guitar immediately.

I almost got one of these new in the late 80s (maybe 87-88 time frame).

    Buy it.

They're the most uncommon of the original "Roadstar Pro Series". The Radius and Saber lasted much longer. The alder-bodied P series was only in the lineup a couple of years before it was replaced by the reverse-RG-bodied PII series.

These are excellent guitars, and worth way more than $180. I believe the parts were made in Japan and they were assembled in the USA.

Buy it. No idea how much it's worth, but I'd give you $140 for that bridge alone! It looks lovely. And if you don't want it, buy it for me!

Looks like a refinish, which may hurt the value, but it'd be a cool project guitar to restore (right after your RG550RFR ). They were associated with Satriani for a while, not because he played them much, but because of this album cover:

Yeah, these are actually pretty cool. I actually almost bought one of these, too, but bought something else (maybe a Saber?) instead.
