I see a lot of people getting excited about maple necks. Is that just because they look cool or do they sound/feel different? Or do they have other properties that make them better, like maintenance or something?
My only experience with maple fretboards has been testing out guitars at the store. I didn't feel a difference. I don't know enough to know if there's a tone difference.
This does look cool, tho:
Well for some its asthmatics, for others its tone (or both). The tone is generally brighter than Rosewood.
The feel is also "smoother" and not grainy like rosewood.
