Hello. I'm going to try keep this short.
I'm going to buy a guitar in the forseeable future and have been looking at guitars all over the internet and listened to countless of youtube covers.
I just need some tips on what guitar to get. If anyone have heard SUAS by asking alexandria (lets keep my pleb taste out of discussion, I just think they have a great sound) thats the sound I'm looking for. So far these guitars have caught my interest;
Schecter Omen 6
Epiphone Les Paul Standard (what's the difference between this and the SG soundwise?)
(these guitars are right in my price range i think, I got about 800$ total so whatever is left is what I'm getting an amp + other equipment I need that I might not know about)
There is only so much youtube covers can say, but are any of these guitars good? Would you recommend any of them? Will they give me the sound I'm looking for? From googling many people seem to recommend Ibanez for heavy metal, but from what I've heard they (RG321*) sound kind of "dirty/rough" and doesn't make those clean riffs and playing you hear in SUAS.
Now on to my second question; AMPS!
I have no idea about amps and what's good so I'm all open here. I also want to ask if I need any other equipment, I know theres pedals but I have no idea what they are for.
And lastly, any good books to learn guitar, the do's and dont's, the grips, tips and tricks? Or even films/tutorials, I've even taken a look at rocksmith.
(Before you say "Go to a shop and try some guitars", theres an actual reason why I make this thread)
$800 could get you quite a nice used guitar from the for sale forums..
I own a blackstar HT-5 and it kicks ass. A great little amp.
If you just want a practice amp, have a look at the HT-5, there are a few other mini stacks that sound really good and they do not cost a truck load of money.
If you are gigging, the other guys will have advice, I will leave that to folks that actually play gigs. :P
