    14-58 for C# standard?

I have my RG3EX1 strung with 14-18-28-38-48-58 and it's usually tuned to B standard with the occasional drop A. I'm wondering if I could safely tune it up to C# standard with no risk of breaking strings?

Is it even possible to break strings that thick? I'd think you'd be more likely to damage the neck than break strings if you tuned it to C#.

I'd be most worried about the 1st and 3rd strings (normally the high E and G strings.) This makes me laugh because I use an 11 for my B string

I use an exl116 set for C# standard (11-52). No string breakage. With those strings, like Chris, I'd be worried about snapping the neck, or ripping the bridge out of the body, before worrying about the strings.

I used a set of 12's tuned to C on a 24.75" scale guitar. Sounded fine to me!

    14-58 for C# standard?

SRV used 13s in Eb I believe so it is possible, but the guitars would have been set up for that. If you intend to change tunings all the time and go up a fair bit, I'd expect issues

I used 14s tuned to E standard on a 24.75" Gibson in the old days and never had any problems.
