I'll be in the market for a Les Paul(ish) guitar here in the next few weeks and I think i've narrowed it down to one of these two. Buying used, i've found some good deals on both. I'd be open to other les paul type guitars, but I like these two because they're both unique and have maple caps.
Hagstrom Select Ultra Swede, not my choice of colors but I don't dislike it by any means...i'd rather have the Iceland Ash, but that color is nearly impossible to find, and especially not used for $250.
Mahogany Body/Maple Cap
Set Mahogany Neck
Resinator fretboard(kinda like the Parker fretboards)
Super Wizard neck profile(or so i'm told)
Fernandes, a little bit more at $350, but is a bit thicker, so it probably sounds more les paul-like. While I like the idea of a super wizard necked les paul(Speaking of the Hagstrom), i'm worried that will take away from the LP tone and I might as well just get one of the Basswood/Maple ones instead. You don't see many people playing these, but then again you don't see many people playing the Ultra Swedes either.
I think the Fernandes overall would sound more like a Les Paul, but the Ultra Swede is quite sexy.

I knew a guy who had a Hagstrom that looked and sounded killer. Only thing is the tuners feel ultra cheap.
