Ehh, I've decided that the Soapbar isn't really for me. It's a really nice guitar, but not exactly a metal guitar. It's more like a work of art to me, so I wouldn't feel right about changing pickups or taking the old sandpaper to it. I have only seen one other for sale and it is on ebay for $350. I paid $400 for mine and it's practically mint. The shop I got it from was asking $500 for it. They seem to be a bit of a rarity. Anyway, I called the guy up and asked if he'd do a trade and he said he would. Hopefully he'll trade me for an Ibanez or something of the same value. Something I can leave my mark on without feeling like I just torched a Renoir and will do metal better. Any suggestions on the poormans guitars? I think he has Ibanez, Squire (eww), Dean, Jackson, Maybe ESP LTD, and possibly BC Rich, and Epiphone. Oh, and I think I've seen Schecters too in there. I know I probably can't do the Dean, Jackson, or Schecters since I'm dealin with around $350 to $400 maybe. I dunno, maybe give me an idea what to look for and what to steer clear of?
Oh, he's also gonna let me take this crap Mustang 1 back and trade me for a Crate GFX212. I know Crate sucks but it is closer to a "normal" amp than what I have. I don't like all this modeling shit. It's a 100 watt beast too lol so I'll be able to really piss off the neighbors I still intend on getting the Jet City 20 too, so this will tide me over until I can save the money.
Definitely consult with the local Ibanez know-it-alls (us) before you make any trades. There are good Ibanez guitars in the $500 range, but there's also a lot of absolute crap. We'll steer you the right way if you need something more metal.
Around $400-500, a used RG550 is the ultimate workhorse if you don't mind a floating bridge. Schecter has a ton of guitars in that range too (the C1 especially) that have a bajillion different finishes, fixed bridge or trem, and are damn good fiddles.
