Jackson Kelly Pointy Guitar with Floyd Rose Blue Purple | eBay
I came across this listing last night, thought it was a steal and almost clicked "buy it now" but then I started scrutinizing the photos and saw a few red flags:
First of all, guy says "might be a KE3..." Um, there are lots of Kelly variants over the years, might be hard to narrow it down. Sharkfin inlays- check. Volume knob only- check. Chrome hardware- check. Now for the negative...
No Jackson logo on the back of the tuners.
No logo on the tremolo bridge.
No logo on the pickups (KE3's say "Duncan Designed" on the bottom).
No logo on the neckplate.
Lastly, waaaaay too good of a deal, a KE3 can easily sell for twice that.
The photo quality here sucks, but a quick search for KE3's showed hundreds of photos of varied quality, and nearly all had the identifying features that I've mentioned. Hardware can easily be upgraded or swapped out, but this one just doesn't look right. What do you guys think?
That's an early X Series one, made in India. Maybe a KX10. I'd avoid it--the quality on the original X series was spotty at best.
