My rather inexpensive but quite fun Vintage V6 Filmore strat works really nice, except I could use a Bit more sustain on the low strings when playing close to the body.
It sports a classic Wilkinson bridge with bend metal shrapnel saddles, zinc toneblock and 6-hole mount (pretty much like a classic Fender bridge), which works just fine - I can even do a drop-D without loosing tuning.
I was thinking of shopping a set of ABM bell brass saddles to see if those might result in improved tone and sustain.
Anyone have experiences with improvements when replacing saddles on those types of whammy bridges might be expected?

You'll get more sustain by raising your action.
