I got this right before we went to Australia for Soundwave, and then we jumped on the Deftones tour the day we got back, so I never got a chance to do a proper NGD for this guitar, which is a shame because it really is a stunning instrument.
This is actually one of John Dell'Isola's first builds, and I had always raved about how much I loved it from the first time I played it. I used it on those two tours, and have been recording with it since I got back, because it really is just one of those instruments that puts a smile on your face and inspires creativity.
I have to mention that it also kept an absolutely perfect setup despite traveling to Australia and back followed by a US tour meaning that it saw Summer, Winter and Spring in a matter of months haha. Now THAT is road ready!
I am not 100% sure on the specs of the guitar, I believe the body is mahogany, and the neck is multi lam flamed maple (don't know what the centerpiece is). It has a set of BKP Aftermaths and a bridge I don't recognize, but that is actually really awesome! He retrofitted luminlay and hipshot locking tuners at my request as well.
The guitar was wrapped in leather after it was built, and has aged since then, which I think is kinda cool. With more and more tours that process should continue and give it a pretty unique look!
Anyways enough talk:
And finally a headstock shot with way too much bokeh because 'murica.
Nice. definitely different.
