So, I have to ask, because I see this phrase used all the time in FS ads and whatnot: "Neck is good, straight... blah, blah... and has no dead notes."
Can someone describe to me what a "dead note" is? What does it sound like? What causes it?
I don't know if I've ever experienced this phenomenon, or perhaps I have but just don't recognize it. I mean, there are definitely some spots on my various necks that don't sustain quite as long as anywhere else on the neck, but I'm not sure if that qualifies as a "dead note."
Dead notes I believe are basically due to the frets being uneven. My Schecter Avenger A7 has a few like that. They basically just don't ring out like normal
