Left side tone or no tone.

But in all seriousness, there probably is...I think it's more for comfort which one you personally choose.

Neck wood is far more prominent tonally with a neck thru.

I haven't noticed. all I know is, I like how neck through instruments look. their neck heels are usually better carved, which feels awesome to my hand while i'm up there...

More than likely the neck through will be "brighter" but who knows. My prefered construction is definitely carved set neck. Best of both worlds

Neckthrus can seem more "clinical" sounding, but also with clearer note definition. Not a huge difference from a setneck, but noticeable.

I find that I like Setnecks the most with a 24.75" scale and neckthru on 25.5" and up
I play Suhrs, not poor people guitars. -Chris

I like the feel of a neck-through guitar better than a set neck or a bolt-on. Presently, I have a Jackson SLSMG, which is a neck-through. In the past, I've had a Gibson Les Paul, a Gibson SG and an Ibanez Artist 2618, which were all set neck. The neck-through feels sleeker and more fun. However, I have not noticed a difference in tone.
