Hey guys, I have an issue with my Jackson Pro series Rhoads. I think i may need to file the nut shelf or buy a different nut to get the action im looking for.
notice the shelf on my red king v sits down at the bottom of the neck binding. the action on this guitar is ideal and exactly what im trying to achieve on my rhoads. i know these pictures are bad, but notice the shelf on the rhoads doesn't sit all the way to the bottom of the neck binding, it only cuts a little past halfway through it, forcing the action on this guitar to sit 1-2mm higher than my preference. so my question is can I successfully file the nut shelf on my rhoads to sit identical to that of my red king v without ruining it? or is there a shorter replacement nut offered that would help me achieve the same outcome? thanks in advance for any suggestions!
They both look too high to me, but I belief the shelf would have to be filed down to get the correct height.
