MG Forum Unthinkable: 8 String Clean Test Video

Before I offend anyone with sonic cleanliness (against forum rules just FYI) you can check my NGD 8 string demo which has plenty-o-dirt.

    It's here: (the dirt)
    RG8 Demo/NGD

And now for the greatest crime ever committed against this forum...

    "Clean 8 String Jazz Chord+Melody"

I tried it out a few minutes ago, makes your brain hurt but the entire universe opens up with all the new possibilities. "On the 8th day God created the 8 string".

Man I am in a good mood tonight.

Sorry for goofs and pauses, Just recorded it real raw, just so freakin cool to see so many new ways to lay everything down.

These things are NOT just for metal, though metal is clearly the best...

I just want to combine a bunch of styles (with metal as the core and the foundation for it all, of course)

And again if anyone is ticked off check the dirt channel linked at the top (edit in before I got banned!).

I'd actually be interested to hear more clean chord-melody stuff. If I want guys chugging away on 8-strings, I can find that all over Youtube.

Nice dude. Yeah There were a few guys that actually used the 8 strings for Clean stuff and did a really good job. I enjoyed messing around with the clean tone when I had my SC-608b too. Never had anything as good as you and the other guys though

I liked the playing a lot.

I'd much rather hear this as opposed to what the majority of 8-string guys are doing these days.

    Wirelessly posted

The first time i saw an 8 in person it was darren at a meetup playing jazz chords on an agile intrepid. My mind has been blown to this day. Since im learning a couple jazz standards in my lessons, the mindblown factor has increased greatly.

This is what I'd like to hear more of - in the 8-string context. Like others have said, when you see an 8-string video chances are it will be somebody hammering on the low string with a few blasts of the higher strings once in a while. I prefer to hear the whole guitar - more balanced playing like this where you have "normal" playing and you throw in the 7th & 8th strings as extra "color" in the song.

    Great, great playing!
