I'm sure most of you know that I have an "Ibby" body on the way home to me from Nate Perle. During the course of the building process I've changed the design in my head about 637,198,472,518 times, and I still can't decide what I really want.
First up is the finish. I might go with a satin blue-teal stain with black pore filler. If this is the case, I'd rather not go with a maple neck/fretboard like I originally intended, as I've always liked blue guitars with darker fretboards, especially if the fretboard matches the wood used for the neck. If I go this route I'm thinking of having a neck made of zebrawood, with offset dot inlays in black.
If I go with my original idea, I'm going to stain the body bright orange, again with black pore filler. If that's the case, I'd like to go with an all-maple neck with a DNA inlay in bright, loud colors, because I've always loved bright colored guitars with fretboards to match. The hardware will be gold in either scenario.
So, what would you guys do? This is obviously subjective, but I'm just curious to see what your opinions are.
Also, guitar builder dudes, what would be the pros/cons of zebrawood vs. maple as a neck wood?
Thanks for your time, bitches.
I like both your ideas but I think orange with black filler, maple board & matching head stock would be sexy.
