    New 6-String Advice

    Hey guys.

I haven't owned a guitar in a while, just have been playing bass. But I really want to get back into it so I'm looking at a few right now. I really like the type of body of these three so that's pretty much set. I'm looking at $500 max.

I'm hoping you guys can tell me what the differences will affect me as still a beginner at guitar. I know there are different scale lengths, neck shapes, pickups, body wood. So have at it!

Hey man, I think you will get a lot more value if you look used. Ibbies like this seem to always have good reviews.

I agree with the used part but the OP said he had settled on that body style so I don't the the RGs are what he is looking for. I'd recommend the OP to just go try some out and see what he likes.

Any idea as to what you want?
I'd recommend a used ibanez, if you're lucky you can find a prestige for $500, if not you can still easily get a badass ibanez.

I would stay away from the LTD, as (personal experience/opinion) the edge of the body is pretty sharp, and not very comfortable.

I've played one of those Damien's, and didn't like it very much. I've only ever played the Ibby 7 string LP copy, which I actually liked.

But really, if you really want a $500 LP, I absolutely love my Epiphone "Tribute Plus" LP:

If you're interested in the singlecut shape, I don't think there is any better value in that price range than the PRS SE series. Although, as Leon said, you can also find some Epiphone LP gems out there.
