Last I knew, and as far as I undersood, a guitar that is "custom" is designed at least partially, if not completely, to the specifications of the person ordering it. Right?
I really feel like the term is abused. If you pick a model out as it is - a production guitar - it's not a custom. Is it?
Take ESP, for instance. I see that "Custom Shop" logo on the back of the headstock and go... hey, that isn't a custom guitar...
If I take a production guitar and put Sperzels on it, EMGs in place of the stock active pickups, and replace the bridge, for example, then it's customized.
OK, so signature series guitars are custom guitars... for whoever the artist is that designed it.
If I order a Tiny Tim Signature Series... it's not custom if it's exactly how he designed it, and I haven't specified any features of the guitar.
Am I missing something here?
Nope, I think you've got it!
